Question about Backup Exec 2010 Agent for Microsoft Hyper-V

Hi

I have some problems how to understand the requirements of the Microsoft Hyper-V host and the Hyper-V Anget.

  • Scenario:

  • - One media server (physical) with Hyper-V role installed as it is used to manage Hyper-V Server.
  • - One Microsoft Hyper-V server (Non-GUI).
  •
  •
  • Is this scenario OK?
  • If yes, then which agents has to be installed on the media server and which agents has to be installed on the Hyper-V server?
  • If no, what do I have to change in the scenario?

Since you have 2 servers with Hyper V role the you will need 2 Agent for Hyper V license.

1 Hyper V license will you allow to backup all the VM's hosted by that Hyper server.

You can install remote agent on the VM's without the Remote agent license.

But if the VM's are running an specific application like Exchange or SQL then you need

to install the Remote agent for Exchange or Remote agent for SQL license.

License keys need to be installed on the media server and the remote agent for windows

needs to be installed on the remote windows server.
