Hallo,
I wanted to do a restore and at the Moment there are enought free tape drives available. But for all my tape Jobs I've got the Status "Ready; No idle devices are available". The customer has 4 free tape drives.
This is what I've checked until now:
- Open Backup Jobs writing to TL - None
- Open restore Jobs reading from TL - None
- Open Jobs on Drives itself - None
- any tape loaded to a drive - No
- State of tape Drives - all Online
- Windows Eventlogs - None regarding TL
- Job Priority of the restore Job - Highest
- No BE critical, warning or any other Messages waiting
I know, that the main solution for issues with BE is to reboot the Server or restart all Services.
In my opinion, this isn't a solution it's only a poor workaround and for bigger environments it's just not the way to go, as you always have some jobs running. Sadly, the restore has a high priority and has to be done quickly. So I'm restarting the server now. But as I'm working with BE, the issue will be there again soon, as so much others. So if anybody has a good solution for this, except changing the backup software to a functioning one, I would be really interested in it.
You see, I'm not really happy with the quality of BE at all. How is your opinion?
