We continue to improve Backup Exec as a data protection of choice for small and mid-sized organizations by ensuring business continuity that is fast, easy-to-use, simple-to-deploy, secure, and affordable. 

That's why I'm thrilled about the launch of the new Backup Exec 20.1.

With this breakthrough release, customers and partners can benefit from a simplified licensing (subscription and perpetual) model that radically simplifies their buying experience and gives businesses exceptional flexibility in selecting storage and pricing options that are perfectly suited for their needs.

Here’s a quick overview of innovations in this release:

Day 1 Support for VMware vSphere 6.7

If you are looking forward to the significant technical and productivity advances of vSphere 6.7, now you can deploy without waiting for backup to catch up.

Fast and easy-to-use

Powered by an updated deduplication engine, Backup Exec delivers improved speed, scale, and stability while backing up to the deduplication folder.

Global data insight and visibility

Backup Exec customers will also be able to visualize their protected data using the new integration with Veritas Information Map, enabling them to have access to a dynamic, real-time picture of their data assets. This level of intelligence helps organizations ensure compliance and provides insights that can lead to better business outcomes.

Expanded cloud coverage

Expanded cloud coverage with new support for Azure Archival Storage, Amazon Glacier, Chunghwa Telecom hicloud S3, IBM Cloud Object Storage, Infoniqa SWISS3CLOUD, and Amazon S3 in US West1 (Gov FIPS 140-2).

Simple to acquire and deploy

Simplified subscription and perpetual licensing options so customers can choose how they pay and how much they pay.

Hardened security

Backup Exec has a new Secure Console Management feature to prevent unauthorized access to the product. Backup Exec is also optimized for some of the world’s most rigorous product security standards, including the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) FIPS 140-2 certification and the latest TLS 1.2.

New platform support

Benefit from advanced integration with the latest platform releases, including Microsoft SQL 2017, Exchange 2016 CU8, Windows Server RS3 parity support, Debian 9, and many others.

Enhanced protection for Linux virtual machines

Instant Recovery support and automated recoverability verification of Linux Virtual Machines with the Recovery Ready feature to test your ability to respond to and recover from ransomware and cyber-attacks.
