I am preparing to replace our External Hard Drives in rotation with Backup Exec. Does Symantec recommend a certain brand? Is there a brand that you, as a user, has experienced with ease and reliability?
Thanks,
Bridget

Hi Bridget,
Best bet is to consult the BE 2014 HCL on the link below and see what's listed (if external HDDs are).
Symantec tests hardware, so rather fall into line with what's there. However, I've seen multiple posts around Seagate and Western Digital, so they're working for some at least.

Thanks!

Hi,
In addition to CraigV,
As far as Symantec recommendations there isn't a preferred brand nor would Symantec promote any third party brand. Symantec instead establishes system and hardware requirements for product supportability. The following link describes these and might be helpful.http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO98851

That is correct, we cannot recommend a brand. However, based on experience I would recommend looking in to NAS storage devices. These are versatile because you can target an UNC path or Local Drive by carving out a LUN from the unit.
Visit out Backup Exec 2012 Hardware Compatibility List to look at the supported disk devices in the Disk Storage section:
