Recovering Tape Password

Greetings,

An employee in another office set a tape password on his backup job. The password was stored in a file on a file server which has had a severe failure. He does not remember the tape password.

I see that there is no recovery option for tape passwords other than to send it to a data recovery specialist. Can you reccomend one such specialist? Or maybe a tool that can help us recover.

An entire division is down rght now. Admittedly, this is poor planning, but the main focus right now is recovery. I need to find out my options, if any, quickly.

Hello,

You can get in touch with some Data Recovery Company to access or read the tape. It seems your priority is 'restoring the data from tape'. Other than this there can't be any solution.

In case the data is not that important, you can erase the tape and reuse it without knowing the password. Refer to:
