Recovery of Calendar in Mailbox failed

Hi there,

i got the following problem:

when i try to restore a Calendar in a Usermailbox, the Job fails due to unavailable Space.

I know that BE needs to restore the whole Mailboxdatabase to a local HDD to recover the Items via GRT.

In my opinion it was not that hard to restore single items in the past.

Is there another way to get the things back?

The main problem is that the backup Server does not own enough space to recover the whole database.

Any soloution would be great!

Thanks a lot.

Cheers,

Sebastian

Thanks for your reply.

There is no possibility to restore to a Networkshare?

Yes, you can. You can setup a Disk Storage on a network share & duplicate the backup sets from tape to this storage.

This KB helps you duplicate existing backup sets ~ http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH187271

Staging from tape during GRT restore has been same in previous versions of Backup Exec as well. One option is to duplicate the backup sets from tape to disk, but this is akin to the staging part as you do require sufficient free space.

When duplicated to this network storage then i am able to restore directly without the staging?

An other idea is to connect a usb disc and point the grt path to the usb disc.

Is this an option?

Thanks.

Yes. Post duplication to disk, you can restore directly.

USB disk should not be an issue provided its formatted with NTFS & does not have newer 4K sector size.

I duplicated the Backupset.

When i try to restore from the duplicated backupset, i got the following error message:

Exchange Granular Restore fails with 0xe0008105 - Invalid Physical Volume Library Media - v-79-57344...

All help topics directly from symantec were not working.

Any solution for me?

Thanks

How was the USB disk configured in Backup Exec ? (Disk Storage or Disk Cartridge)

Is Backup Exec fully patched with SP1 + all hotfixes ? Lastly, try inventorying & cataloging the disk before attempting restore.

The usb disc is not used as storage for be 2012.

I have configured a network share as b2d storage. Already ran a inventory and catalog.

The only thing i can imagine is: at this moment the full backup of the server where the network storage is located is running.

is ther maybe a port issue on the server?

should i wait until the backup job of the machine is finished?

I would suggest that you duplicate the backup set to a local disk and then try your restore from there.

hi pkh,

i got not enough space to restore to a local disc...

this is the reason why i tried to restore to a network share or a usb disc.

Would you pls enable debugging using SGmon from \Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec on the media server.

Enable the following on the left side ~

Job Engine, RAWS, Agent Browser

Backup Exec Server

Device & Media

Catalog

Capture to File

Run the restore again to reproduce the error & post/pm the debug.
