Reinstalling with Jobs, Preferences, etc.

I have a server running BE12. It has two arrays. One contains the system files and be12. The other contains the disk based backup. I'm going to demote this sever from the domain and perform a clean install of Windows 2008 (It's currently running 2003). I want to reinstall BE12 on here. Is there a KB around that tells me how I can do this and the steps afterward I may need to accomplish so that EVERYTHING is back to exactly how it was?

Also is there any problems backing up Exchange 2007 running Windows 2003 from a Windows 2008 server running BE12 and the Exchange Management Console?

After speaking with support the solution to the above is as follows:

1. Fully Update BE

2. Stop all BE Services

3. Navigate to your BE Installation Directory

4. Copy the Catalog, Data, and IDR folder to a safe location

5. Erase / Reinstall your Server

6. Install BE and Fully Update

7. Stop all BE Services

8. Append current Catalog, Data, and IDR folders with _old

9. Copy your saved Catalog, Data, and IDR folders to the new installation directory

10. Start all BE services

Be sure to read the "Do Not Use If ..." near the top

The computer where Backup Exec is installed and the computer where it will be installed are running two different versions of Windows Operating System.

So basically I can't follow this then right? Will it still work?

Missed that - sorry

You could try it, but I don't know if I'd trust it, even if you could get it to work

About all that is left, would be to do the clean install, inventory and catalog the last backup tape, restore the BEDB.BAK file, then use BEUtil to "recover database" and point it to the BAK file

Copying\Restoring the \Catalog folders should be no problem

Has there been any updated documents on this topic for BE12? The link above no longer appears to work either.
