Remote Agent and Pre/Post command for Jobs

Hi,

If anybody knows, please help. Is there any way to run pre/post command for jobs that involved remote unix server backup using Backup exec version 10? I need to run a script on the unix server to stop the database before any backup activities. Please advise.

No, Pre/post do not work on UNIX servers.

Would suggest you schedule the script using UNIX tools just before the backup is supposed to start.

Hi,

You cannot run pre/post command for UNIX system from BE media server.

You should be able to include RSH commands in a CMD file

Pre and Post cmd can be run locally on UNIX/LINUX server.Only option you have is to schedule the backup and the pre/post cmd script in such a way that pre-cmd stops the database 5mint prior to backup job schedule and then starts the post-cmd script to start the database after the backup job compeltes but important thing here is to estimate the backup windows that is how much time on average backup takes and + and -.
