Remote Agent for Windows crashes during restore

Shaler
Level 3
When I try to restore a 20gb backup from disk to disk I get the following error:
0xe000fe30 - A communications failure has occurred
Connection to the restore target has been lost. Operation cancelled.

Remote Agent always stops on the target machine. It doesn't matter if I try to restore to the machine acting as server or to a client machine. It does seem to stop on the same file every time.
If I remove the problem directory from the restore job everything progresses fine. I am even able to restore the problem directory if it is the only thing I restore.
Is there a fix to keep this from happening, or a way to tell if the backup has bad files in it?

Notes:
I always restore using file redirection.
Server: Win 2003 Standard with backup exec 10 sp1
Remote Machine: Win 2000 Server

Shaler,

Refer following guidelines :

-- Re-install RAWS on suspected remote system.

-- Does this issue occurs only for redirected rerstore?

-- Stop all antivirus and other non essential third party services prior to start restore.

-- Also, refer following TechNote :

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/256120.htm

Hope, this will help to resolve the issue.

I tried to restore on several machines, including the server running the restore. All instances crashed on recovering the same file.
There are no other services running on the server, or one other target machine, and all machines have only one network interface.
This was the first backup and restore that I tried with this product.
I tried a larger backup and restore that encompassed the section I had a problem with and had no problems.
I also ran a verify on the problem backup and it reported everything was ok.

We encounter the same issue. Backup Exec Remote Agent stops during a specific file restore. Deselecting the files or directory gives us a successfull restore.
My only question at this moment is what the hardware configuration is. Are you trying to restore from a tapunit that also has done the backup of those files? Which tapeunit and revision are you using?
