Remote Agent on Exchange 2010 beremote.exe crashes

I have BackupExec 2010 R2 (v. 13.0 Rev. 4164 (64-bit) with SP1 and latest hotfixes that came from liveupdate.

I am running it on MS Server 2008 R2 SP1 64-bit.

I have MS Exchange 2010 SP1 installed on a different server running MS Server 2008 R2 SP1.

I have installed the Exchange management toos on the backup server and it opens and manages exchange just fine.

I verify that the remote agent service is running on the exchange server, I view the selection list on the backup job for that server and it hangs then says -

An error was encountered while attempting to browse the contents of exchange.local.

A network connection to the server could not be established.

However, I can ping the server just fine even after this error. Server firewall is off and the 2 serves are on the same VLAN only using 1 NIC.

I look at the exchange server and the service is stopped.

The event log on the exchange server says -

Hi,

Could be that the RAWS agent is stopping for some reason. When this happens, log on and check the service.

If this is a new issue, uninstall the RAWS agent, and then push-install it. I'd recommend updating BE using LiveUpdate first, and then push-installing the agent to the server in question.

Report back with an update...

Thanks!

VJware -

TECH147591 - I installed this hotfix on the buex server, restarted server still crashes the remote agent.

153041 - Not using ADBO

125463 - No hyper-V anywhere in the servers.

CraigV -

I uninstalled remote agent on exchange server, ran live updates to latest (several times to make sure all updates were installed), pushed new agent to exchange, installed successfully, rebooted media server and exchange server, no help.

I have the same result - i manually start the buex remote agent service on exchange server, create new backup job with exchange server as the only item within the selection list but when I navigate to it, the remote agent crashes on the exchange server.

If it helps, I had exchange 2003 that I did a migration to and had an old secondary exch 2003 box that was gone so had to remove that manually.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Nope, a migration wouldn't affect this. Are you running an AV on that server, and if so, turn it off and try again. Also check and make sure that if you run a firewall on that server or your network, that the required ports are open to allow traffic between the RAWS agent and the media server.
