Remote agent errors

bkoenig

On every backup job, I am receiving the following error message for items that are backed up from servers that do NOT have the remote agent installed.  This is occurring on Windows Server machines as well as Windows XP machines.

The data backs up, but I receive the error message with a "failed" status.  Is the remote agent required to backup a server or XP machine?  Can I restore data also?  How do I avoid this error?

The media server will use the local agent to try to complete the operation.

Hi.

You can not get rid of the error unless you install the remote agent.

You do need the remote agent for XP.

You will be able to restore the data, but you may not get the security with the restore.
