Reporting in BackupExec

I have inherited an orphaned BackupExec system,

The BE should be closed down, clients already moved to Netbackup.

I can import media to Netbackup, so we can shutdown BE.
We will only import BE-Media when needed, but we have to store them their retention life.

But, is there a way to get a imagelist from BE, similar to "Images on tape" in NetBackup. So I don't have to store tapes with "old" images,
And to avoid importing "incorrect" media? etc..

The default reports only show when backup is taken, not when image is expire, As far as I can see.

No, not retroactive. You'd be able to see System State and drives/folders, not not individual files from backups done in the past.

Hi,

Have you taken a look at a report listing retention periods on your media sets? Alternatively you can do this through the Media tab within BE, but it means grabbing a screenshot of this.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply,

I can't find any report showing retention, is that a standard report or a custom report?

I assume, "Overwritable" in the Media - Media Sets means that the media has expired?

Overwritable means the retention has expired on the media set, yes.

You can look at the report below to see if they give you what you want:

Standard Reports - Media - Scratch Media Availability

Thx

Then I have the correct info regards the retentions.

Is it possible to get where info regarding certain image, like we can get from Netbackup:

Backup ID: SERVER1_1293829202
Client: SERVER1
Policy: Clients-1
Schema: Full
Retention: 2 years
Exp, Date: 2012-12-30
Master: nbu-mASTER
Media ID: E330L4

...if you want to check to see what's on each tape in a media set, there is a report for that. Be aware though that you'd need to up the level of logging to see all the details of what you're backing up in a job, and this is going-forward only...

To clarify,

that mean it's not possible to get that information on tapes already written.
