Restore encrypted tape no ask key BE 11d

Hello Backup Exec support,

We are using BE 11d latest version.  I am trying to create an encrypted backup on our LTO Ultrium 2 backup drive.  I have created an "encryption key' and 'pass phrase' in the backup job.  I then ran the backup last night and it was successful.

However this morning I wanted to test the restore process by restoring some data to see if it asks for a pass phrase to see if it works.

It did not ask me for a pass phrase and I was able to restore my data without being asked for either a "encryption key' and 'pass phrase'.

Is there something I am missing on how to create an encrypted backup tape.

Please advise.

Thanks Todd

GLS,

Since the Encryption key is already in the system it will not prompt you for the pass phrase.  If you want to test the restores to see what happens when it does not have the encryption key go to Tools - Options - Network and Security, then select Manage Keys and delete the key you created.  After the key has been deleted, try to run the restore again.  It should fail with an error about needing to enter the encryption key into the system.

Thanks Backup Exec.

Will try the solution.
