the goal is to get a copy of a huge database. So I'm trying to restore the vhdx virtual disk file to a different folder to use it in a test vm. The restore assistant 'Microsoft Hyper-V data' pretendes to be able to archive it. After a very short time it even reports success, but I get:
A partial redirected restore of a virtual machine was attempted. Backup Exec cannot register a virtual machine that is partially restored.
Of course it cannot and it should not be registerd and therefor the checkmark to register with Hyper-V was disabled anyway.
All original VMs are running on cluster storage. I tried with different vhdx files to different redirected locations, like HV-Cluster, single server of the cluster, different HV server.
How do I just restore a vhdx file to a different folder? I thought this is a most simple task, sigh.
