Restored VM will not backup

Tuxwear
Not applicable

I have a test environment setup with the following:

  1. vmware ESXi 5
  2. Windows Server 2008R2 with Backup Exec 2012
  3. Linux vm Guest

I have been able to backup the entire Linux VM using Backup Exec 2012.

I have been able to restore the entire Linux VM

But, since the intention is to put the restored version into production, I will need to back that up.

I create a new backup job to backup the new restored Linux VM and it fails with: The job failed with the following error: Unable to create a snapshot of the virtual machine. The virtual machine may be too busy to quiesce to take the snapshot.

Everything about this error points to Fault Tolerance, which I can't change because this is a standalone ESXi server.

How do I get this to work??

Install the remote agent on the VM & backup the VM as regular physical machine in this case

Just a query whether esxi server is licensed as we have see sometimes if esxi server is not licensed then snapshot fails, for detailed info refer

Hi,

It's a month old with no further discussion. Please PM the OP and ask them if this is still open, otherwise let the back-end system expire the forum query. No need to dredge up dead queries.

Also, if you post within minutes of your previous post, please rather edit your previous post with the new details.

Thanks!
