Restoring Secure Folders

Hi, I had a hypothetical question asked by one of the Executives at my company. We use Backup Exec 2012 and use it to backup a file server that has some secure folders that only certain people/groups have access to. The question is, if someone were to restore any data from our file server back up to another location, would the permissions on the secure folders stay in place and not allow whoever is doing the restore to access them still?

I was going to give it a try and see for myself, but wanted to see if any one had ever run across this before I gave it a try. thanks in advance for any thoughts on this.

Within the same Active Directory I believe it will still restrict the file system permissions - although I suggest you do test this for yourself.

However share level permissions cannot be restored without restoring the system state (which means no redirection possible) so any shares will need recreating.

Thanks for the reply. I will give it a test to make sure.
