Restoring by tape not by server in backup exec 2012

Hi,

I'm not sure whether it's me not looking in the right place, but i can't seem to see any option to put in a tape, select that tape and restore data from it as in previous versions.

Having to know and select which server the backup was from and when it was backed up can be somewhat of a pain, especially if you know what you want is on a particular tape. It seems strange that you can browse the contents on the tape, view all the files through the Storage section and then have to go back to the backup/restore screen and go all through the wizard to start a restore job of the data.

It's not the biggest problem if it's no longer possible, but just a bit of a pain!

thanks in advance for any thoughts

At present restore from media option is not available with BE 2012. But upon taking the feedback from multiple uses, symantec are decided to bring back that option in the next release of BE.

Here is the discussion mentioning about the features coming backup to BE 2012: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/new-be-2012-requires-too-many-clicks

That's great news, thanks.

Out of interest, when you say, next release, would that be as an update to 2012 or the next full version?
