Restoring email backed up from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2007

I need to restore some old email that was backed up with Backup Exec 10d from Exchange Server 2000.  We don't have the Exchange 2000 Server anymore because we migrated to Exchange Server 2007.  My question is if I upgrade Backup Exec to 12.5 (for which I am licensed), can I then restore some email to the new Exchange 2007 Server?

don't do Exchange any more, but used to be that this (inter-version restore) was not supported due to Microsoft restrictions

You may want to take this to an exchange group, or just ask at Microsoft support
