We have a new backup process which works like this. Overnight backup files to a NAS, then the next day backup the NAS to tape for off site storage. All the files on the NAS are .bkf files. When you look at the tape to restore something all you see is the .bkf files not the file inside. My question is if I ever need to actually go back to a tape for a file (because for some reason I can't get it from the NAS), do I first have to restore the .bkf file then inventory it to see the files inside? Is this a good way to accomplish this? Any advice is welcome.
