Restoring from a backup taken from a previously restored server

Not applicable
I have encountered a strange issue, to which I've been unable to find a solution. I have built a new server (Windows 2003), promoted to domain controller (its the second DC on the domain), then installed Terminal Services. I have then taken a backup, trashed the server (for Distaster Recovery testing, not incompetence!!) and restored it. This has worked abosolutely fine.

However, if I run a backup after I have done a restore, I cannot successfully restore from this new backup (I get a message on startup stating the Security Manager cannot initialize, and it shuts down again). If I boot into AD restore mode I still cannot restore from this backup, however I can then restore from the first backup I did.

The restore is done using the remote agent, in case it makes a difference!

Has any one else encountered this and found the cause/solution?

Thanks,

Mark.
