Hi,

Is the drive online when you get this error?

Thanks!

Hello Janne,

Check if the drive where the B2D is present if it is highly fragmented. Also try to run the B2D test tool and see if it comes up with any kind of errors

Here is the link for the B2D test Tool

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH69107 : Information regarding the Backup Exec Backup to Disk Test Tool - B2Dtest.exe

You can download the right version of the test tool from the Related articles of that technote.

Thanks,

-Sush...

Yes drive is online. It is a USB-drive with two 1TB disks.

Cannot see if it is fragmented.

Are you able to reproduce this error "Library Media not found" with a test backup and verify which has infinite protection ?

I do not get the problem every time I run my backup.

Tried to run the verify job after the actual backup. The verify ended in error.

It tríed to verify:

Drive and media mount requested: 2013-05-14 00:16:07 Media mount failed. Physical Volume Library Media not found. Media GUID: {30002551-297F-431E-9FD1-2F9204E5DB34} Media Label: B2D004364

Looked at my NAS and the file does not exist there. Now I will check my backup and see if it is used at all....

Drive and media information from media mount: 2013-05-13 23:00:10 Drive Name: Disk storage 0001 Media Label: B2D004358 Media GUID: {cff7e177-a989-4904-b364-d401a7f89efd}

Someone or something is deleting it?

Ideas!

...is this a NAS ot a USB drive with 2 drives in it?

Did you run B2Dtest.exe as advised as well?

Do you get the same error if you run the backup to a local drive (if possible)?

It's a Synology NAS and it is connected with USB. B2Dtest was OK.

I cannot run it on a local drive. I do not have the space for it.

...have you tried to connect the NAS to the LAN and run a backup that way?

Sorry but the NAS is connected to the LAN and not to USB.

...so now that this has been worked out (you mentioned USB first!), have you checked the NAS for any hardware issues?

When you setup the disk storage, did you use the UNC path to the NAS or did you use a mapped drive?  If it is the latter, then it is not supported because mapped drives are associated with an online session and BE runs as a batch job.

...matter of interest, but if that model of NAS is capable of iSCSI, why not turn that on and present the disks to the media server? This is a very effective way of backing up to a NAS (used it myself with the Iomega NAS series!).

Thanks!

I have used iSCSI but had some problems with that too.

I have used my NAS for 11 months now it suddenly has problems. Setup via UNC.

No errors in logs on NAS no errors in logs on server except for

Error from Backup Exec mentioned earlier.

...weird. iSCSI should just work. Have you perhaps checked your network switches as well, or is this a direct attachment?

Thanks!

The NAS is connected on the same switch as the server. But I have not checked the logs.

But why should bad network connection lead to that one file is deleted after backup?

It won't...but something is deleting the file. What is your Append/OPP settings on the media set?

Is there ANY antivirus perhaps scanning that NAS?

If you run a small backup to a local disk, do you end up with the file being deleted too?

Thanks!
