SDR (Simplified Disaster Recovery) backups turn off due to minor file exclusions

We do not desire to back up certain files and folders on certain systems because they are not necessary and there is insufficient storage available to include them in regular backup operations. If we deselect these files and folders from the backup selections, SDR (Simplified Disaster Recovery) turns off. This behavior is unintended and unjustified, as the deselected files are unessential. Until a recent update, https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100013839 worked as a solution/workaround. After a recent update, https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100013839 stopped working as a solution/workaround. The latest updates installed were Backup Exec 20.6 and Hotfix 525537. Could anyone please help?

Just realized the registry key on the remote server was deleted when updating the remote agent. After re-creating it, https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100013839 resumed working.
