SQL AlwaysOn configuration

Hi guys,

I'm pretty new to Backup Exec and I'm trying to set up a correct backup plan for a couple of databases in AlwaysOn config. I've some questions:

1) Should I add both SQL servers or just the FQDN of the AlwaysOn cluster (I tried but failed...)?

2) If I add both servers, I could try to backup the databases from both of them but, even if I succeded (there are limitations from what I read), I will end up having 2 different backup sets, while I just want one.

Using pre/post commands could solve the issue of taking a backup from the non-active node but not the 2 backup sets issue imho. Any advice?

bye, Dario

You haven't mentioned the version of BE you are using, but the best place to check out information on how BE should be set up is the Admin Guide. Check the latest one out below: https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/doc/59226269-141939367-0/v62853589-141939367

I', on 21.0 and that seems to be the issue, I read that 21.1 supports SQL AlwaysOn so I asked our partner to upgrade it. Thanks for the link, I'll read the guide.

Bye, Dario
