SQL Instance missing for database restore

LANTech

We are using Backup Exec 2012 with the SQL agent to back up several SQL Express 2008 R2 DBs.

I went to restore a database and the instance is not listed, even though I see in the logs it is getting backed up.

The three instances that are showing, are not listing any of their databases.

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

It could be that your latest backups are overwritten. Check your OPP to make sure that it is set long enough

...did you use Advanced Open File Option when backing up the SQL DBs?

Thanks!

Are any of the instances related to Sharepoint?

Colin: No Sharepoint here. Thanks though.

Craig: Checked the job settings and yes it is active for that job.

In general, snapshot technology is not recommended for database backups.

However can you please browse the backup sets and check if the databases are listed under the instance?

Have you backed up the SQL DBs to tape or to disk ? if to tape, duplicate the backup sets to disk and recheck.

Secondly, is BE 2012 completely updated with the latest patches / hotfixes ? (At least SP4 should be present)

Even though the job runs 5 times a week, the last backup set is from Oct. 2014. Strange.

Backup is to tape.
LiveUpdate reports no updates needed.

Thank you all for your help. Turns out there was a job running after this job that was set to overwrite instead of append.

Thanks again everyone.
