Are you restoring to the original location or to a different location ? Would you pls post the complete job log along with the options which you selected for the restore.

The error is generic but can happen during restore to original or restore to another server instance
Ensure the following options are selected in the restore job
- overwrite existing database. If redirecting then this is not required.
- When redirecting there is no need to create a target test database
- If you are doing a redirected restore then ensure the correct instance name is selected in restore job properties.
With the above option the restore should work
This is an old article but can be referred to know the restore job setup and options to be selected -

@Vjware--Thankyou for the reply. I am restoring to the original location but with a different database name.
@Guruvinder- Thanks for the reply.
- I am doing a redirected restore.
- I tried doing the restore without doing a target test database and also tried by creating one.
- The correct instanace name is selected in the restore.
This is the job log
Note- Sorry some of the logs maybe a bit repetitive.

Tried doing a restore to another SQL server and it is giving the following error
V-79-65323-4305 - An error occurred on a query to database BookingRestore. V-79-65323-4305 - The log in this backup set begins at LSN 5145000000025300001, which is too recent to apply to the...

In the redirection options, do specify the target server's name (This needs to be specified even though if its the source server as you restoring to a different database)...Instance name can be left blank if using default instance...
There are 3 other options such as r~
Use Alternate Drive (Only when the original drive does not exist OR Even when original drive does exist)
Use Destination Instance's default data directory
Use this path
If choosing the first option, please ensure "Even when original drive does exist" is selected if restoring to C:\, else choose other options. If choosing the last, the path should be similar to D:\Folder

Are you sure all Incremental sets are present ? It seems BE doesnt find an Incremental set and is complaining because of that. Just the full restore till all incrementals are present should work fine.

@Guruvinder- When i chose the point in time i need to be restored, the job summary talks about the required media and then i put the required media. I beleive all the incrementals should be there.
Atleast shouldnt the full backup work?. The retension for tape is one year and i am only requesting the backup from last month.
Thanks

Have you just tried to restore from Full backup set ? does it work. You can open a case with Tech Support to get this Investigated further since when the failure happens we can check the debug to see what BE is actually looking for. The error in the job log doesnt say much.

I am trying to choose the Full backup set. When i see the contents of the backup set on the tape it shows me the SQL full database backup is present. However when i go to the restore job and say show the individual backup sets that i would like to restore, i dont see the ones on the tape. I have done a full inventory and catalog of the tape. If i see the backups sets on tape shouldnt i able to restore it?
Thanks,
Arun

I am getting the following error message now
Restore- sqlsrv04.company.local
V-79-65323-4305 - An error occurred on a query to database bookingsbk. V-79-65323-4305 - The log in this backup set begins at LSN 5145000000025300001, which is too recent ...
Does this mean the incremental sets are no longer there. If they are not there..then why do i get the summary stating that two of the media should be put.
If i need to restore only the Full backup set..how do i do that?
Thanks

Hi,
I tried restoring the database from tapes again. I got the message 'Database query failed'.
After opening the SQL Management studio, it shows the status ' Database ABCD restoring'.
However the job from the backup exec server is not running.
If i right click the SQL database and go to Tasks-Restore from transactional logs..it does that
and then the database gets restored.
Thanks VJware and Guruvinder for all the help offered.
