Hi
I have an backup to disk folder and a GRT folder with some old files .bkf files.
When is it safe to delete them? Can I check the Last change date in Windows or Modify date in Backup exec or some other way?
Backup Exec 2010 R3 SP2

Hi
First of all why you want to delete then they should be overwritten by the backup job, if those are very old file then yes as per windows modified time you can delete the bkf and img from the physical location and a,so ensure when you delete them you need to note it down so that you can delete from backup exec too ,do delete From backup exec please moved it retired media and then delete the files.
Hope that helps
Thanks

Before you delete the .bkf or .img files, you should verify in BE that they are still needed. For example, if you are retaining your backups for a number of years, then these files are needed and should not be simply deleted. Otherwise, you would loose your backups.

All .bkf I have deleted has data that exist on other .bkf files and on tape.
I have now deleted all incremental and differential .bkf. These files was at least 3 month old.
The retention time was 7 days for both media sets.
All files for full backup I plan to save until march. Then delete them too.
