Scripts

Hi,

Not sure that i'm posting this in the roght place, but hopefully someone can help. we're using backup exec 12, and i was wondering if there was a way to write scipts before jobs. i'm sure i read somewhere that there was.

basically what i'm after is an automated way to inventory and quick erase a tape before the job starts, but if possible included within the backup job as we usually change times of backups and don't want to mess around with changing the times of three jobs for 1 day.

also if this can be done, where do i save the scripts to, and how do i call them?

if this is possible, could someone let me know how its done please.

Thanks in advance

You would use the BEMCMD command line utility in a CMD file.

You can place them anywhere you like

Call them from the PreJob selection

But why bother, change the OPP of the media set so that the tapes will have passed the OPP and will be available for overwrite

(I don't think that you can erase the tape thta is mmounted and that the job will use anyway, since BackupExec grabs it as soon as the job "starts".  You could use Windows Task Scheduler, and run it/them that way, tho)
