My client needs to upgrade the Windows Operating System on his server - currently has a fully licensed Backup Exec 12.5 running on Windows 2003 32 bit Server. Will the Backup Exec License install after doing a clean install of Windows 2008 64 bit Server? Can the 64 bit version of Backup Exec be installed with this license?
Thanks in advance for your input...

Yes. You can also import licenses from BESERNUM.XML

Licenses for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions are same.

Be sure that your are meaning windows 2008 and not Windows 2008 R2
12.5 as a media server is not supported on 2008 R2. the only thing that is supported is the RAWS agent

Client has been out of the country on vacation for 2 weeks. Upgrade to server took place during his absence.
Plan is to purchase/renew maintenance contract this coming week, then proceed with install of Backup Exec 2010 until 2012 becomes available. I have signed up for 2012 beta testing and might proceed with that install sooner rather than later.
As such, I believe this case can now be closed.
Thank you for your assistance.

FYI
The gold build of Backup Exec 2012 is now available for immediate download as part of the First Availability program. If you have maintenance for Backup Exec (or are a partner) then you can sign-up using the following link:
