Set Media for Backup

hi,

I am using BE 12.0. i want to take a full backup on weekly basis i.e on every saturday& incremental backup on daily basis ie. Mon- Friday.

Also want to take a monthly backup on every 30th or 31st as a full backup.

cany anyone suggest me how can i configure & how many media set i will require?

Media set is configured on the basis of your retention policy. Below is the most common practice.

Incremental Media set: 5 days of Overwrite protection and infinite allow append.

Full(weekly) Media set: 2 weeks of Overwrite protection and infinite allow append.

Montly Media set:  2 Months of overwrite protection and infinite allow append.

You may change the above values as per you requirement and avalilability of media.

Configure a policy based job with 3 templates (incremental, weekly and montly)

Select appropriate media set for each template and schedule the job with the help of scheduler.
