Set jobs to use server-side dedupe

My first BE post! (wish I could hide the badges) 

I am 'playing' in a lab with BE2012 SP1a and OST storage.

I want to get rid of backup exception "Client-side deduplication is enabled for this job, but it could not be used" message.

I found TN http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH189111 that describes the issue 100%. 

In Problem description it says 'Job properties do not show any option to select server-side deduplication'

Solution says to  'set jobs to use server-side before disabling client-side on device'.

So where do I disable this if I cannot see this option in Job properties?

Try this...

Enable client-side dedupe from the properties of the dedupe storage...

Edit the backup job properties, choose Storage on left side & enable the second option, i.e. for server-side dedupe..

Disable client-side dedupe from the properties of the dedupe storage..

Pls check if the jobs now throw this exception or not...

Client-side dedupe is enabled in Storage properties.

I cannot find the dedupe option in the Job -> Storage properties.

Go to the Storage tab.  click on the device and enable client-side dedup.  After this, you should see the option to enable server-side dedup on the Backup and Restore tab.

The other way is to make client-side dedup work with your OST device.  Use this procedure

Thanks for your time pkh!

Looking at the link, reboot is only thing that I haven't tried. Stopped services, closed and re-opened the GUI, dedupe option remains missing from 'Storage' tab in the Job properties.

Busy rebooting now. Will let you know shortly.

Rebooted. Still no luck ....

Still only see options as per my screenshots above.

Client-side dedupe enabled in Storage Properties.

No dedupe selection options in Jobs -> Storage tab.
