Setting up Backup Exec to use 3 USB Hard Drives

Hi all,

We have 3 usb hdd's that we would like to use with BE 2012 (sp2) however, when we change the HDD to be a different disk to what was used to set up the media, the job failes with:

The job failed with the following error: Physical Volume Library Drive not available.

Any idea's how we can set up a removable backup to disk set on BE2012 as as far as I can see you can only set up local disks?

Thanks

You have to setup each USB disk as a different disk storage device in BE itself and then use a pool of devices to send the job to instead of sending to individual disks. The device pool should mean that whichever disk it finds online in the pool at the time the job starts is used.

Hi Adam,

Backup Exec does not support B2D on all model of disk storage connected through USB . Please go through the Hardware compatibility list before you proceed

1) You can use the procedure in my article below to set up your disks

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/how-rotate-external-harddisks-be-2012

2) Also, check that each of your disks have unique diskid's.  If there are duplicate diskid's, change them using the procedure below
