Shadow Copy Components - BE 11d

Hello,

I am using a Full and Incremental strategy for our backups. I understand that System State can be backed up using a Full Backup only, but what about Shadow Copy Components? Does it needs to be backed up using Full or Incremental type?

IIRC it's not that you need to select a full or incremental backup for it, but that you'll get a full backup every time regardless of what backup type you select.

You can select a differential backup for Shadow Copy Components, but it won't be any smaller than the full, and in fact in my backups the differential backup is about 10% larger than the full!

So, you are saying even on incremental backup Shadow Copy Components will be backed up fully?

It would appear to be, based on the size.

Note that I haven't tested a restore from an incremental backup though (I only do incremental backups on servers which aren't in our DR plan), so the ultimate test hasn't been tested by me personally.
