Should I use iSCSI w/ Backup Exec 12.5 & ReadyNAS

We are currently backing up all of our data from several servers using BE 12.5 on one backup server and B2D on our ReadyNAS.  My questions is which is better, my current B2D setup or using iSCSI?  My current B2D was setup using this document - http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12265/session/L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xMzQ2ODUxMDU5L3NpZC9IVlRa....  Setting up iSCSI on the NAS is covered here - http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20907/session/L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xMzQ2ODUxMDU5L3NpZC9IVlRa....  We are doing a full backup of everything starting Sat at 7:00 PM (which runs into Sunday).  Incremental backups are done Mon-Fri.  Also, how should my media set be setup to reuse the B2D (OPP and AP are both set to none)?  We need to reuse the media every week.  Thanks.

To address this set the OPP to 6 days and set the AP to Infinite. Also set the job to overwrite media.

Thanks,

I think you should use iSCSI if it is available.  The NAS will be treated like a local drive on the media server and you would not have problems with credentials.

Unless you are very short of space, you should consider keeping the full backups for a couple of weeks.  You would then set up two media sets.

Full backup media set - OPP = 3 weeks (This will give you roghly a month of full backups). AP = 1 hr

Incremental backup media set - OPP = 6 days, AP = 1 hr

Do not set your AP to infinite.  A job may then append to to the media extending the OPP.  The 1 hr AP is very minimal and will thus render the media not appendable.  You should always overwrite disk media because there is no advantage to appending to disk media.
