I have a problem with slow backups of all systems. The media server is a Windows 2003 server, with an SDLT320 drive attached by SCSI.
Backups of files, local or remote run at only 150mb/min. I have tried backing up to disk, and the speeds are no better.
Performance monitor shows that the bottleneck is the hard disk, although the servers are mostly RAID 5 arrays, with 15k disks, which are defragmented weekly.
I have tried disabling antivirus software, and this makes no difference to speed. Backups of Exchange and SQL using the relevant agents run at about 1500mb/min, as do verifications.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
