Slow backups

Backup Exec 2010 R2 with a Quantum LTO-6 tape drive, Domino 8.5.3 FP5 running on Windows server 2003 64-bit. The backup job was running at 2400 MB/Min and now has dropped to 785 MB/Min. No updates have been installed, not receiving any network or hardware errors, the Domino server itself is functioning normally. This has happened before, Quantum upgraded the firmware on the deive, it still ran slow, Domino has been cycled, I have power cycled the Windows server itself, all to no avail. Any help would be approciated

Are you backing up ONLY the Domino database?  or the whole server?  The backup speed will depend upon the data being backed up... so some stuff (big files) is faster than other stuff (small files, System State).

I would also suggest updating to R3, as long as your environment is supported.
