Slow job rate when converting backup to virtual machine on ESX

Hi there, I have configured a backup definition on BE16 to backup a server and then convert to virtual machine after the backup to an ESXi 6.5 host.

I realize that the conversion job rate is typically running at <250MB/min, which is extremely slow. Is this normal and anyway the job rate can be pushed faster? I have servers of 600GB and more and it is impossible to convert the backups to VMs at this rate.

thanks.

Hey Keith,

Sorry to hear about your problem. Is this a simultaneous conversion? You can easily tell the type by pulling up the job and seeing if the conversion is listed at the bottom (simultaneous) opposed to the right (afterwards).

The reason I ask is because conversion jobs run in parallel with backups jobs, and performance will be limited to the slower of the data streams. The backup stream gets priority. If so, you could try running/scheduling the conversion to run after, or try a seperate one time conversion. It's the same operation really.

I hope this helps! If not please let me know.

Thanks,

Dexter
