What kind of compression ratio can be used when backing up to hard drives? What is the maximum ratio? Can it be backed up to a dual layered DVD?Message was edited by:

Hello,

The average file can potentially compress at a 2:1 ratio but this may not be the case with software compression. It also depends on the type of files that you are backing up.

However you may note that when data is written to a DVD it is in a compressed format. Yes, it can be backed up to a dual layered DVD.
