Storage issue

In BE2014, to create new storage on a volume, besides to create a BEData folder on the volume,will BE delete the other existing folder or files  on the volume? Do we need to backup the files on volume before create a storage on it?

No. It should not delete the other files and folders., However to play date you might want to backup them up first BTW, sharing the volume with other files makes it more difficult to manage your disk space

Nopes, BE does not delete any existing data nor does it format the volume.

I have had one case where BE 2014 reformated my USB ddevice when it creates a disk storage on it.  Luckily, the files on the USB device are not important.  I am unable to reproduce the problem so I did not log a support case.

While running the "Configure Storage" wizard for a Disk Storage, following information comes up, verbatim:-

"Backup Exec formats the local disk only it is not already formatted. No data is overwritten."

Possibly, in your case, the USB wasn't formatted.

How can it be not formatted if I have files on it?
