Is it possible to install & use Symantec Backup Exec 2010 on Sun virtual box 4.1.8 ? Will it work properly ?

Backup exec does not support Sun Virtual Box.

Even with the more established VM's, like VMware and Hyper-V, Symantec does not recommend that you use a VM for a media server.  There can be problems accessing physical devices like tape drives from a VM.

...ONLY to test some functionality within an isolated network on your workstation/laptop. You could back up to a disk attached to the VM, but that's it.
