Symantec Backup Exec 2012 Agent Licensing

Bonjour Symantec,

Je souhaite avoir votre aide pour l'achat des licences Backup Exec 2012, actuellement on a 5 serveurs avec les rôles ci-dessous :

- Serveur 1 : Application + Partage (MySQL)

- Serveur 2 : Application (MySQL)

- Serveur 3 : Sage sur BD SQL Server

- Serveur 4 : Messagerie sur Lotus Notes (Domino)

- Serveur 5 : Contrôleur de domaine (Active Directory)

Je souhaite savoir combien d'agent est requis pour ses serveurs ? Merci d'avance pour votre aide.

You would require 3 Agent for Windows for Servers 1, 2 & 3. (Application agent licenses are not required as BE has an agent for MS SQL, but not for MySQL & Sage SQL)

And you would require 2 Agent for Applications & Database licenses for Servers 4 & 5

Lastly, if you are planning to use another server as the Backup Exec media server, then you would require the Backup Exec core (server) license as well.

However, if you plan to use any of servers 1, 2 or 3 as the BE media server, then you would require the Backup Exec server license and 2 Agent for Windows.

And if you plan to use servers 4 or 5 as the BE media server, then the license requirements would be same as mentioned first ( 3 Agent for Windows, 2 Agent for Applications & DBs & 1 Backup Exec server license)

If i understand, our requirements is :

• Serveur 1 (Application + Partage (MySQL)) =  1 x Agent for Windows
• Serveur 2 (Application (MySQL)) = 1 x Agent for Windows

That's right. Additionally, the Backup Exec server license is also required for the core product. If you plan to install the core product on Serveur 1, 2 or 3, then one Agent for Windows license for that is not needed as the core product also includes the agent for windows for itself.
