Against a standard file system/agent backup, be aware that the overall result of a backup and restore operation is that the files are restored in a non-deduplicated state and you then have to run a Microsoft command to force deduplication after the restore.

This might mean that you do not have enough space to restore the whole volume in one go, but have to restore part of it, deduplicate what you have restored and the restore a bit more until you have it all back.

Dear Colin

thanks for your replay

i noticed that the disk Data before dedup is 70 Gb and after the dedup the data became 40 GB but when i backed up the data the found that the backup size is 70 GB not 40 GB

Can you please elaborate this further.

Also, is there any Symantec document that reports this information?

Thanks
