Symantec Backup Exec Error When Backup From Remote Server

I have problem with backup from the remote server, and I think it cause from the port because when I permit only some port on the firewall, but when I permit all port on the firewall it can backup successful.

The port that I have permit are:

- 6103
- 6101
- 6102
- 10000
- 3527
- 6106
- 1125
- 1434
- 5633
- 88
- 135
- 137
- 138
- 445
- 3106
- port range 1030 1039
- 441

Solution:

 

- Edit the Dynamic Ports Range to 25 allocated ports on the Media Server

- Allow all listener port of BE 2010 on the Firewall

- Allow Dynamic Ports Range on the Firewall

Hi ,

 

What is that remote server windows or linux & also you have to open any 25 ports bidirectional & then check if that help

 

For 25 ports you can select any range

Do you have Anti Virus installed on the remote server ?

Check the event viewer on the remote server, may be the remote agent service is

crashing.

the remote server is Windows Server 2008 64bit.

Are you using BE 12.5 or BE 2010?  BE 12.5 with certain hotfix can backup a Windows 2008 remote server, but for Windows 2008 R2 you would need BE 2010.

the error occure only when i permit the port that i list above.

Hi ,

 

I don't think it should be hotfix issue as when disabling the firewall it works fine but yes if it is  BE 12.5 then to backup win2008 as remote machine your BE 12.5 should be atleast on sp4

the prot range is 1025-65535.

but My firewall is Cisco ASA 5550, and The Media Server and Remote Server are in different subnet.

 

on the Cisco ASA 5550, I have permitted all the port that I have listed above, but it is still not working.

1 Are you able to ping or telnet the remote computer does it work

2 Also are you able to copy paste from media server to that remote server or vice versa
