Symantec Exec 12.5 / Event 58064 / Do not span the backup job

Hi all,

I created on the autochanger one partition with two slots. In both slots were recycable tapes.

The problem is that one of the jobs do not span the backup to the second tape if the first tape is full!

We got the event ID 58064 ""Please insert overwritable media into the robotic library using the import command."

How to get this operation work?

Thanks and best regards

The 1st thing to check would be to check to which media set the tape belongs too and if their overwrite protection period is over or not .
Also check for the following
Tools | Option | Media Mangement Check if overwrite recycleable media b4 overwriting scratch media is selected.
Make sure the both the tapes are in the same partion and the backup job is target to the correct partition

Does the Backup Exec console show both tapes as overwriteable?
Would they have been overwriteable at the start of the backup job?
Is either tape in the Retired media set?
Is you server set to overwrite scratch before recyclable or recyclable before scatch?
Is teh write protect tab on the physcial tape cartridge slid across?

When you get that message, it means that the second tape is write protected.  Check the Overwrite Protection Period of the media set that the tapes belong to.  Change the OPP according so that the tape can be ovewritten when you do the backup.
