Tape Library not visible in Backup Exec 2012 SP4

Hello,

we have a problem with a new installation for one of our customers.

We have installed BackupExec 2012 on a Windows Server 2008 R2. We want to connect a Netapp FAS 2240 with a SAS attached Fujitsu Eternus LT40S2 via NDMP.

After adding the NDMP server in BE 2012 we can browse the volumes in BE. But we don't see the Eternus.

The adamm.log tells us the following:

...I'd start by checking the connection and reservations between the NEtApp and the tape drive...

Thanks!

verify that tape library appear in Device Manager in your backup server. If not appear, download and install driver of tape library

I don't think that a tape library which is connected to a netapp storage system und not directly to a server ever shows up an a device manager.

If you look at our Hardware Compatibility List - some of the Eternus L2 Models of library do not have a check in the NDMP Option compatibility column. As such you may need to confirm if your library is one of the supported variants.

EDIT: Also in the HCL we seem to stop at Ontap 8.1.3 and jump to 8.2 meaning 8.1.4 may be the problem.

Also I hope you are not using the CDOT features discussed in the HCL within the NDMP footnote for the NetApps

We have installed BackupExec 2012 on a Windows Server 2008 R2. We want to connect a Netapp FAS 2240 with a SAS attached Fujitsu Eternus LT40S2 via NDMP.

As Colin pointed out, I would speculate that the issue could be due to the fact that none of the Fujistu libraries using SAS are supported with NDMP.  Most NDMP NAS servers talk to their libraries via fibre channel.  Is there a chance that you could use FC instead of SAS?

I see

[4796] 05/02/14 13:36:44.635 DeviceIo: 00:00:00:00 - NDMP device not connected or reservation conflict, SCSI cmd 12

Have you tried stopping BE services, then power cycle the library to clear any reservations, then restart everything?
