We have an tandberg vxa3, running BUexec 12.5 on WS 2003
Previously we had a VXA 2 tape drive using BUexec 10D, on Server 2000
I am trying to do a restore of data from the old tapes
This is the process I have followed
Stop services on new BU server
copy old catalog files from old server to new file catalogue system
start services
catalogue tapes
error - e0000900 - the requested media is not inthe media index - blah blah
Inventory all 7 (imported) tapes individually (4 - 10 mins per tape)
Inventory them again, just for kickers (4- 10 mins per tape Mins)
attempt a restore
(error message - after 1 hour) cant restore files from a non cataloged tape, please inventory the tape
inventory all 7 tapes again
Run a catalogue, catalogue fails after another hour, cant run catalogue, please inventory the tapes.
Rinse and repeat.
So thus far, I cant restore a single file from our archives, I might as well put them all in the bin.
Options for catalogue are - 1) request all media, 2) use storage media- based catalogs
I am sure i dont have the time to catalogue the files off the tapes, it will take all day to do just one.
Any help would be appreciated
