We are upgrading from Windows Svr 2003 32 bit to Windows Svr 2008 R2 64 bit.

We will be installing Backup Exec 12.5 after the upgrade of the OS.

Question is will we be able to use / read the tapes from the Svr 2003 32 bit.

Win 2008 R2 as a media server is not supported by BE12.5

Refer to BE 12.5 SCL http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH62301

BE2010 and above supports Win 2008R2 as a BE media server.

BTW new release of Backup Exec (BE2014) will be available on 2nd June 2014.

To answer your question about tape, Backup Exec should be able to read tapes

irrespective of the OS version.
