SoftwareReview has announced a thorough evaluation and ranking of all Backup and Availability Software through its Data Quadrant October 2020. Veritas Backup Exec ranks fourth on the Data Quadrant while also winning the Gold Medal!
SoftwareReview ‘s Data Quadrant ranks vendors based on actual user’s reviews and places them in four categories: Service Star Niche Players, Challengers, Product Innovator and Leaders. According to SoftwareReview: “The SoftwareReviews Data Quadrant evaluates and ranks products based on feedback from IT and business professionals. The placement of a software in the Data Quadrant indicates its relative ranking as well as its categorization.”
This Data Quadrant Report, compiled in October 2020 by SoftwareReviews, a Info-Tech Research Group subsidiary scored several Backup & Availability software vendors on different categories like product capabilities, and emotional footprint, likeliness to recommend. A total of 11 vendors were evaluated against 580 reviews where Veritas Backup Exec was also featured as the ‘Top Product’ for the following solution categories:
- Application Awareness: For Application Consistent Backup and granular restore for application data from core applications such as MS SQL, Oracle, MS Exchange, MS SharePoint.
- Physical Backup for Multiple Platforms: Based on the ability of Backup Exec to backs up data and system info for non-virtualized systems. Primarily Windows and Linux servers but also, potentially, AIX, Unix and others.
Veritas has several thousands of customers that have deployed Backup Exec to protect and manage entire data ecosystem from a single console. Last month, we expanded our cloud-focus with the release of the Backup Exec 21.1 update with inclusion of new cloud capabilities and significantly boosting our ability to counter ransomware.
Of the 11 vendors, Backup Exec earned a composite score of 8.4 out of 10, with a 90% Likeness to Recommend! Behind Backup Exec were Veeam Availability Suite, Barracuda Backup, and CommVault Backup and Recovery.
