The job failed with the following error: The directory is invalid.

Backup Exec doesn't give the directory that its missing. Any way to tell what directory it is referring to?

This shoud be mentioned in the job log. You can check your selection by ticking text modus and check if all directories here make sense. If not, remove the garbled file/directory name and run the job again.
