The restore job completes with 'status: Successful', but no files are restored

Hi

Working with BE 2012 SP1a.

We are backing up the data with "Using Catalogs" method. (True Image Backup)

Backup to tape with HP MSL 4048.

When trying to restore, some of the files are not restored, and the restore job completes with Successful status.

At first i thought it got someting to do with that:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH190622&viewlocale=en_US&impressio...

But we are not using Hardware VSS, we use Micorsoft Software Shadow Copy.

Any idea how to get this files restored?

Thanks

Dori

It is o.k. to use the Microsoft VSS since it solved your problem.  There is no harm is specifically specifying that for AOF.

Is the backup taken with Microsoft VSS or the Hitachi VSS?  If it is the latter, then it is expected.

If you are using Microsoft VSS to take the backup, disable the off-host backup. You can take True Image backups ("using catalogs") without doing off-host processing.

Hi

Changing the backup job to :

Advanced Open File:

Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Server:

Snapshot Provider: System – Use Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider.

Solved all my issues with files not being restored.

Is it ok to continue using it?

" So far ive always used "Automatically Select Snapshot Provider

So i'm a bit worried changing that.
