B2D on removable media

2. How many Media Set i have to create.

If you will only be running a Daily job, one media set

3. What is the best Device configuration for the Backup to Folder

Not sure what you are asking here

4. What is the best Overwrite protection period

How long do you want to keep the data? are there any company or industry standards for keeping Monthlies for xxx months/years?

Hello,

-- What are the Media set properties that you have set?

-- You need to check the overwrite protection period and the Append period.

Thank You,

Shweta

For a single media set, keeping data for once cycle only, set the OPP to 6 days

You can manually remove the job logs for any jobs run against the test folder. In the jon monitor, right click the job log/delete

Thank you for the information..

I have created 6 folders in USB hdd and created B2D folders and mapped respectivly in BE.

Regarding B2D Device:

i have created 6 devices for 6 days in a week with following configuration.

Backup -to-Disk file management:

Maximum size for Backup-to-Disk files: 100gb
Maximum number of backup sets per Backup-toDisk file: 3--- i dunno what is this for)

Disk space Settings

Disk Space reserver: 1 GB --- ( i dunno what is this for)

Regarding Media Set:

I have created one Media set named "B2D Media" with OPP 0 Hours

Can you comment the above configuration.. whether it is ok or sugges good configuration..

Thanks in Advnce.

Maximum number of backup sets per Backup-toDisk file:
Say you are backing up 'C:' and 'D:' drives on computer 'server1', then you have 2 backup sets.
Likewise if you are backing up 'C:' drive and 'information store' on computer 'server2', then you have 2 backup sets.
So 'Maximum number of backup sets per Backup-toDisk file' means the number of backup sets that can be written to a Backup-toDisk file after which the next backup set shall be written to the next Backup-toDisk file even though the maximum size of the Backup-toDisk file has not been reached.

Disk Space reserve:
It is the amount of disk space (from the total anmount of disk space available on the hard drive) that backup exec "won't use".
It is the disk space reserved for applications other then Backup Exec.

You don't mention the append period and what kind of job is it (append or overwrite) ?
